As an Engineering Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our site’s capital investments. You will lead cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver complex projects that enhance our facilities, utilities, and equipment—ensuring every initiative aligns with our high standards of quality, compliance, and innovation. Your ability to collaborate across disciplines and drive execution will be key to supporting the capital projects portfolio and enabling operational excellence at Novartis.
Role Responsibilities:
Manage the planning, execution, and delivery of capital projects, ensuring alignment with site objectives and compliance standardsServe as the primary client contact, managing expectations and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships across stakeholdersPartner with design and construction firms to develop biddable packages and oversee field execution of installationsManage external contractors and internal staff on projects, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, and budgetPrepare and present funding requests, including project objectives, benefits, alternatives, risks, and financialsDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans, resolving conflicts as neededEnsure all project documentation, including scopes of work and vendor proposals, are reviewed and approvedMonitor project performance, report progress to site leadership, and support site master planning initiativesIdentify and mitigate project risks through proactive communication and contingency planningDrive operational excellence and continuous improvement through lessons learned and post-project evaluations

Requirements for: Engineering Project ManagerBachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or 4 years of equivalent experienceMinimum of 5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical GMP manufacturing, engineering, or project roles, including direct experience with cell culture, recovery, purification, or aseptic fill/finish operationsRequirements for: Sr. Engineering Project ManagerBachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, or 4 years of equivalent experienceMinimum of 8 years’ experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical GMP manufacturing, engineering, or project roles, including direct experience with cell culture, recovery, purification, or aseptic fill/finish operationsRequirements for both levels:
Strong understanding of current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and FDA regulatory requirementsProven ability to manage capital projects, including brownfield construction and facility renovationsSkilled in reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and multidisciplinary construction drawings. Experience with process and production layouts, automation, and capital improvement initiativesExcellent oral and written communication skills, with strong technical writing abilityPotential for 5-10% travel
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary:
The salary for this position is expected to range between $103,600 and $192,400 per year. The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors. Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards. US-based eligible employees will receive a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, life and disability benefits, a 401(k) with company contribution and match, and a variety of other benefits. In addition, employees are eligible for a generous time off package including vacation, personal days, holidays and other leaves.
