Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager is responsible for directing the processes of manufacturing engineers. This position will ensure that the methods and processes utilized meet design objectives and will lead and develop a high-performance manufacturing engineering team and will provide leadership in developing new or improved products/processes/techniques.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Provide technical support, supervision, and guidance to manufacturing engineers to ensure successful development of manufacturing methods and processes required to meet design objectives on new or improved products and/or processes. 2. Ensure all Tooling and methods necessary to run the production line are in place prior to the first shipset build 3. Ensure that all visual work instructions are in place prior to the second shipset build 4. Provide on the job training for assigned manufacturing engineers. 5. Oversee the compilation and evaluation of test and production data and preparation of technical analysis. 6. Design tools and fixtures for assembly and acceptance testing. 7. Develop routings and labor standards 8. Perform Line Balancing and Product Line Layouts for increased efficiency and flow. 9. Provide engineering support in the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of assembly operations. 10. Provide input to plans, process specifications and procedures, production aids and assembly fixtures, ERP support studies, factory cost work standard’s development, and other related activities. 11. Manage excess and obsolete inventory – reviewing options to rework into new revs, scrap, sell, etc. 12. Ensure requirements of

are met for all new programs 13. Provides assembly support in technical matters relating to assembly drawing interpretation, engineering change orders, rework, manufacturing difficulties and specifications. 14. Use DFM/DFA Techniques to assist Project/Design Engineering on the development of new products and the redesign of existing products. 15. Analyze customer returns for root cause and leads corrective action efforts in cooperation with program management and quality. 16. Advises Team Leaders how to best utilize lean principles to eliminate waste, improve quality, safety, ergonomics, and throughput. 17. Provides coaching, counseling, and guidance to assigned work groups, monitoring progress, and giving guidance on work performance. Provides supervisory direction to all assigned personnel; selects personnel; prepares performance review; administers discipline; makes recommendations regarding compensation, lateral moves, promotion, demotion, and termination of employees. 18. Promote a culture of safety and ensures the team members are submitting monthly safety improvements 19. Attend required meetings to discuss critical path areas, planned work, critical parts, and overall program status. 20. Create and leads continuous improvement with emphasis on assembly flow to achieve desired TAKT 21. Participates in daily production meetings and implements relevant production schedules for the business unit. 22. Leads continuous improvement analysis to identify and resolve assembly line process problems, including implementation of Lean and/or Six Sigma best practices. 23. Ensure adherence to all ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions quality standards and FAA regulations.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum:
Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering Degree (BS) from a four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. Eight (8) years manufacturing experience. Experience with mechanical systems and lean manufacturing principles. Familiarity with a diverse range of materials (i.e., aluminum alloys, stainless steel alloys, engineering polymers, composites, etc.). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data. Capable of applying statistical analysis techniques such as Design of Experiments, Optimization, Process Reliability, Hypothesis Testing and Regression Analysis. Experience with 3-D Modeling software (Uni-graphics, Solid Works, or Solid Edge) is required. Strong analytical and mechanical troubleshooting skills. Strong leadership skills, including the ability to train, direct and develop human resources. Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Preferred:
Experience within commercial aircraft seating (assembly) environment. Lean implementation with emphasis on standard work & line balancing. Experience establishing operational objectives and performance metrics. DMAIC problem solving.
Physical Requirements:
Normal office environment where approximately 70% of work is performed in a sitting position with the remaining time walking and moving around the office area. Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e. climbing stairs, on work stands, man lifts, etc.). Must be able to occasionally work in an industrial environment subject to extreme temperatures and loud noises. Duties require normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination for keyboard operations. Duties require typical bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, etc. with lifting typically limited to 10-20 lbs. maximum. Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required.
