Vice President of Engineering ZIM Aircraft Cabin Solutions Greensboro, NC Job Summary:
The Vice President of Engineering and Development will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee activities in the Engineering and Development department, ensuring the development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs of the company through a focus on the application and development of people, processes and technology solutions.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Establishes and implements the strategic direction of the company’s engineering and development initiatives. a. Engage in the definition and communication of company strategic plans, policies and standards for the organization. b. Ensure knowledge sharing of engineering best practices across departments and locations; and develop and monitor technical standards to ensure adherence to standard procedures. c. Set engineering departmental policy, procedures and standards to maximize the effectiveness of the Company’s engineering function. Standardize the engineering development process across Company locations. 2. Collaborates with the company’s executive leadership to develop and meet organizational goals while supplying expertise and guidance on projects, operations, and systems. a. Provide strategic plans for all product development efforts to include subsequent testing, release, and production environments. b. Identifies, recommends, and implements new technologies and systems to improve organizational processes and decision-making. c. Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in engineering and development related to the organizations industry. 3. Recruit, manage, and continuously develop through leadership and collaborative team building a world-class team of engineering professionals. a. Ensures that departmental decisions such as staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision. b. Negotiates cost-effective contracts for the organization; coordinates and implements contractors work, and resolves any disputes over labor, scheduling, or payments. 4. Support business development efforts by participating in customer interface and supplying relevant technical information to meet customer bid requirements. a. Oversee technical design and participate in design reviews. b. Review and be accountable for engineering project schedules and budgets. 5. Oversee the Company’s substantiation and certification activity to ensure that engineering design data complies with FAA requirements.

Job Qualifications:
Minimum 1. Bachelor’s degree from four year college or university in engineering or related scientific field. 2. Fifteen (15) years aircraft engineering experience involving design or analysis, ten (10) of which involving transport category aircraft. 3. Eight (8) years experience in an engineering management role. 4. Must have Boeing and Airbus aircraft experience. 5. Must possess comprehensive knowledge of FAA design regulations, aircraft certification processes, design standards and related engineering requirements. 6. Must possess general knowledge of the sales process and industry procurement practices. 7. Must have experience in structured engineering development processes. 8. Must possess strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office programs. 9. Must have strong professional, verbal and written communication, presentation and management skills. 10. Must be able to work through people with sound teamwork, organization, project management, interpersonal abilities. Must be a leader and have the ability to organize, motivate and manage people. 11. Must be a self-starter, highly motivated, capable of operating effectively with a minimum of direction, and be able to work effectively under pressure with significant interaction within all levels in the organization. Preferred 1. Master’s degree in engineering, MBA or extensive cross functional leadership experience. 2. FAA DER or ODA Unit Member. 3. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) product lifecycle management (PLM) computer systems.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally (20% of time). 2. Must be able to sit and work efficiently at video display terminals for extended periods of time. 3. Must and be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language 4. Normal or corrected hearing and vision required 5.
