Engineering Manager Job Description Currently looking for a talented Project Director to join our Project Management Department in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a great opportunity to get involved in interesting and challenging design projects for clients in the power industry. Responsibilities Manage mid-large capital power projects, with specific experience in combined cycle power plants. Oversee multiple engineering disciplines and vendor management from early project phases through start-up and commissioning. Monitor, report, and control project costs and schedules through all project phases. Manage staff, provide vision and strategic leadership, and ensure project productivity and quality. Successfully execute work with overseas High Value Engineering (HVE) offices. Develop and implement administrative, technical, and corporate procedures to ensure successful project operations. Direct and manage project personnel activities, including planning, scheduling, and design quality. Assume full responsibility for project execution, including schedule compliance, budget compliance, and deliverable quality. Build relationships and coordinate with clients and project personnel. Ensure client’s input and requirements are addressed and implemented consistently with contractual obligations. Organize and supervise the implementation of project management and corporate quality systems. Maintain accurate documentation of all commercial, technical, and financial correspondence. Prepare and evaluate monthly progress reports for accuracy, completeness, and timeliness. Ensure timely and accurate invoice processing per contract agreements. Act as a liaison between clients and the accounting department on outstanding invoices. Champion Management of Change by identifying and documenting Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Develop new business opportunities and participate in business development meetings. Plan and identify upcoming tasks, potential problem areas, and technical information, and provide solutions as needed. Maintain proper staff levels to meet project requirements and actively recruit and train personnel. Develop, coach, and track employee skills in technical and work management areas. Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and budgets. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in engineering. 15 to 20 years of experience on power projects, specifically combined cycle. At least 8-10 years as a Project Manager. Experience managing a portfolio of projects ranging from small to mid-cap projects, as well as mid-large cap standalone projects of $100MM TIC and up. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with clients, vendors, and project teams. Organized, self-directed, able to prioritize and multi-task, and work in a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in the power generation sector. Vendor management skills. Experience with project start-up and commissioning. Ability to travel and work in both office and field environments. Work Environment This position will be based in the company office but may require working in multiple environments including the office, operating plants, warehouses, or construction sites. At operating plants and construction sites, noise levels will range from moderate to high. Job sites may contain light to heavy equipment, tools, and people performing various activities. Noise levels may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
