Substation Solutions Manager 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Wendell, NC 27591 We are seeking an experienced Substation Solutions Manager to lead the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of high-voltage and medium-voltage substation projects. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise across substation equipment and systems, with a strong focus on civil design and construction management, while also excelling at coordinating efforts across internal Siemens teams and external engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners.
Responsibilities include:
Lead the turnkey execution of substation projects from conceptual design through commissioning and project close-out. Oversee all technical aspects of substation design, including electrical systems, mechanical layouts, protection & control systems, and civil/structural elements. Take ownership of the civil design and construction scope, ensuring compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and industry standards. Coordinate closely with internal engineering, sales, project management, and procurement teams to align on project requirements and deliverables. Oversee and manage third-party engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) partners, ensuring adherence to technical quality, project schedules, and budget expectations. Review and validate engineering deliverables, procurement packages, and construction plans provided by external partners. Manage and review detailed civil designs, including site preparation, grading, foundations, structural steel, control buildings, access roads, drainage, and fencing. Support site development activities, permitting processes, and field engineering coordination during construction.
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in a similar role Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain licensure preferred Experience with EPC contracting models and working with major utility or renewable energy customers. Familiarity with permitting processes, environmental regulations, and construction management practices. Proficiency with design and modeling software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or PLS-CADD.
