Competitive retirement package to secureyour future. Responsibilities Leads the technical architecture,development and implementation of Mayo Clinic’s digital solutions,ensuring they are secure, scalable and seamlessly integrated withclinical workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees theengineering and delivery of digital platforms and products,including EHR integrations, AI-driven solutions and cloud-basedhealth applications.
- Ensures the scalability, reliability andcybersecurity of digital products, protecting sensitive patientdata.
- Leads teams in adopting agile, DevOps and CI/CD bestpractices to enhance software development efficiency.
- Managestechnical infrastructure, cloud architecture and API integrationswith third-party healthcare systems.
- Works with data scienceteams to incorporate AI/ML-driven insights into Mayo Clinic’sdigital ecosystem.
- Ensures that all technology solutions complywith HIPAA, HITRUST and other healthcare regulations.
- Partnerwith high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture ofinnovation and technical excellence.
The Vice Chair is acontributing member of the Mayo Clinic technology organization andreports to either the Chief Digital Officer or the ChiefInformation Officer. The Vice Chair will play a pivotal role intransforming technology at Mayo Clinic including implementation ofa flexible, outcomes-focused organizational framework designed tobetter support innovation. This model establishes cleardecision-making rights and consistent prioritization for majortechnological initiatives, improves key technologies, enhances ourtalent, and fosters inspired thought leadership along with anoutcomes-focused culture. The Vice Chair works cooperatively withphysicians, department chairs, administrative colleagues, andallied health staff across Mayo Clinic. They may also serve as aliaison to sites, other Mayo business entities, or otherAdministration. The Vice Chair participates in planning andimplementation of the strategic and operational objectives insupport of Mayo Clinic’s technology goals. The Vice Chair isaccountable for providing guidance, leadership development, andadministrative support to their teams and assigned committees. Thisrole partners closely with physician/scientist allies to foster acategory of one data and digital ecosystem through collaborationspanning the sites, shields and administrative shared services. AVice Chair ensures their organization, and themselves personally,achieve the outcomes as defined by the CIO/CDO. They build a worldclass team of experts and creates a culture of excellence,efficiency and innovation. As an enterprise leader, the Vice Chairhas a scope of operations with all Mayo Clinic business entities.
The Vice Chair is accountable for ensuring that thefunctions/operations of their area meet site and other Mayobusiness entity strategic objectives while keeping Mayo Clinicmission and values at the forefront. They develop organizationalstructures and processes to ensure convergence and efficientoperations of assigned activities. The Vice Chair is accountablefor ensuring the most effective and efficient enterprise technologyservices, strategies, plans, technologies, processes, standards,and skills. The Vice Chair coordinates support activities with siteleadership, Mayo business entity leaders, and correspondingadministrative functions. They may also work closely with physicianand administrative partners to develop strategies and tacticsrequired to meet organizational objectives. The Vice Chair willcollaborate closely with the other leaders in the technologyorganization. They coordinate with the Chief Information SecurityOfficer to ensure the implementation of security and privacypolicies. The Vice Chair is responsible for the development ofoperating expense and capital budgets within the guidelines of theorganizations overall goals and objectives. They may also partnerclosely with other organizations and vendors, and manage thoserelationships at the highest level, to ensure to meet Mayos vision.
They also monitor organizational performance related to suchbudgets and support the CDO/CIO in assuring the organizationoperates in a cost-effective manner. The Vice Chair carries outresponsibilities assigned by the CDO/CIO and acts on their behalfin their absence to ensure continuity of all organizationaloperations, in accordance with the prescribed standards,philosophy, and policies. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree intechnology, health care administration or related field; a minimumof ten years of significant leadership and management experience isrequired. Leadership and management experience must include workingwith physicians and allied health staff in a variety ofassignments. Must have demonstrated competencies in leadership,management, operations, finance, and excellent communicationskills. Master’s degree preferred. A Vice Chair must have the demonstrated ability toconsolidate multiple related activities into a comprehensiveprogram and the ability to effectively manage budgets and driveefficiency in operations. A Vice Chair must have the demonstratedability to drive transformational change, and the ability to stayabreast and incorporate industry trends.
