THE ROLE

As Director of Engineering, you’ll split your time between technical leadership (80%) and people management (20%). You’ll guide architecture, write and review code, and solve high-impact engineering challenges-while mentoring a talented, agile team of 7-15 engineers.
Technical Leadership (80%)
Design and evolve architecture for scalable, high-performance systems.
Own the code: write, review, debug, and optimize critical services.
Build and maintain distributed systems and large-scale data pipelines.
Improve system reliability, latency, and throughput with a DevOps mindset.
Champion testing, documentation, and clean, maintainable code.
Drive automation across monitoring, CI/CD, and incident response.
Contribute to open-source efforts aligned with our tech stack.
Team Leadership (20%)
Mentor engineers and support their technical and professional growth.
Lead Agile ceremonies and ensure on-time, high-quality project delivery.
Align engineering efforts with broader business and product goals.
Foster a collaborative, transparent, and high-performing team culture.
SJILLS
Experience & Background
7-12 years of experience in hands-on software engineering roles.
Strong background in scalable distributed systems and SaaS environments.
Previous experience mentoring or leading small engineering teams.
Technical Skills
Proficient in Ruby, Python, or TypeScript (one or more).
Deep experience with data pipelines and large-scale data processing.
Advocates for engineering best practices, including testing and code quality.
