Job Description

Engineering Manager 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Amityville, NY 11701 We are currently looking to hire an Engineering Manager who can support Design Engineers to develop and maintain parametric 3D modeling standards, approval drawings, production drawings, CAM programs, and other documentation to assist product design and manufacturing processes. Will be able to develop and maintain design processes and CAD standards to ensure designs move smoothly to fabrication and assembly.

Requirements:

A high level of proficiency using SolidWorks for solid modeling. Certified training in SolidWorks is preferred. Proficiency in the use of SolidWorks PDM. Working knowledge of fixtures, woodworking, millwork, and sheet/tube metal design principles is strongly encouraged but not necessary. Ability to lead and mentor a Design Engineering Department. An Associate, BE, or BS Degree in Engineering is preferred. Working knowledge of standard mechanical drafting practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerance fundamentals. Technical writing skills for specifications and general communication. Must be detail-oriented and able to maintain technical accuracy in a multi-tasking environment. Any programming experience is a plus (e.g., iLogic, Visual Basic, C++, C#).

Responsibilities and Duties:

Provide and maintain consistent improvement principles and training to raise the skill level of the Engineering Department. Establish standards, procedures, and knowledge base to maintain the company’s engineering practices. Responsible for the accuracy and the speed of the design team’s CAD models, drawings, and CAM programs. Constantly monitor the design team’s performance to maintain and improve key performance indicators. Manage the process of engineering change orders and revisions to existing documents. Make sure product design changes are well documented at all stages. Support and provide technical assistance to manufacturing, product management, and other cross-functional teams. Become a team member for establishing Continuous Improvement principles across the organization.
