Job Overview:

Select, lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of professional Engineers and technical support staff to ensure that Assembly engineering operations are completed on-time, within budget, and as per the set goals. Manages and directs all activities of the Assembly engineering team with regards to planning and establishing of new equipment/technology and methods to the existing serial assembly line. Ensures efficiency improvement, vehicle lost error route cause analyze incl. elimination

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage installation projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team’s resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met
  • Writing of technical specification. Creates feasibility study and cost evaluation, of the new PbP assembly line.
  • Leads discussions on technical equipment with supplier, technical acceptance and approvals on and off site.
  • Manages departmental interfaces discussion and problem solving regarding the assembly line
  • Manages suppliers for running projects. Ensures cost tracking, monitoring and reporting.
  • Manages and ensures overall project success and status reporting new assembly line.
  • Leads discussions on technical equipment with supplier, technical acceptance and approvals for the existing serial SKD production line.
  • MBV internal department production downtime interface discussion and problem solving. (Line planning process)
  • Preparing and leading of MPS efficacy and improvements projects. Ergonomic investigation and Assurance.
  • Planning of the OP head count capacity and FTR. Monthly capacity and even so yearly OP and 7 year forecast FTR
  • Establishing and leading of the PPA area (Process and product assurance)
  • Vehicle electronic & diagnosis assurance.
  • Directs personnel activities of team, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and salary adjustments.
  • Allocate the project work.
  • Leads and participates in regularly scheduled meetings
  • 15 Engineers and 4 technician as direct report. Leads employees in line with organizational culture, values and guidelines; defines performance goals, conducts performance review; effectively communication and engages employees to meet objectives; Responsible for employee development and qualification based on skills and assignment.
  • Will be responsible to plan, maintain and meet department cost center budget. Budget management. Personal allocation to the team member.

    Qualifications
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering / process engineering or in related engineering field requirement.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant professional experience with strong emphasis on project, serial production assembly planning process experience. Project management experience incl. supplier handling and status reporting.
  • Internal candidates require a completed PV-44. Knowledge and Skills
  • Qualified candidate must have extensive knowledge of assembly processes and assembly related technology
  • Strong relation to project management, team management, equipment planning and process planning.
  • Must have a strong excellent knowledge in LEAN manufacturing, ergonomic, and apply it in a vision of a work environmental.
  • Strong in relation of numbers and derivations of their combination.
  • Must process excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in an intercultural, fast paced, changing and growing environmental.
  • Flexible in working hours, travel actives and assignment reactions.
  • Second language beside English (in word and writing), German is a plus

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC (“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that produces Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brands Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location. Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC invested 500 million U.S. dollars in the construction of a new Sprinter production plant in addition to an expansion of the previous assembly operations. In September 2018, MBV officially opened its new plant, located next to existing operations in the North Charleston area. The MBV facility will provide up to 1,300 jobs by the end of the decade and is expected to create at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers.
