Job Description As the Director of Engineering, you will be the visionary leader responsible for overseeing and directing the resort’s engineering and maintenance operations. With your experience, technical expertise, and strategic mindset, you will play a key role in shaping and executing operational strategy, ensuring the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. You will lead a team of skilled professionals, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Develop and execute the strategic vision and direction for the Engineering Department, aligning with the resort’s overall goals Provide leadership, guidance, and mentoring to the Engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence while ensuring accountability Implement, train, and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe environment for guests and employees Create and manage the Engineering Department’s schedule and budget, including capital reservations, P&L reviews, and expense forecasting Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the resort’s infrastructure, mechanical systems, and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations Lead the planning and execution of major capital and reserve improvement projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality standards, budget, and timelines are met Establish and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure contract compliance and effective partnerships Manage the procurement and inventory of all tools and materials purchased and assigned to the Engineering Department Proficient in creating documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint Experienced in maintenance and operations of food & beverage, landscaping, pools, groundskeeping, and laundry facilities Proficient in using resort operations software and devices (e.g., HotSOS) Communicate professionally via radio, phone, email, and verbal interactions Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed Expert in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical data, and O&M manuals Able to recognize and resolve potential hazards on the property Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, battery-powered tools, and other job-relevant equipment Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, lifts, and in confined or restricted spaces, while using dust masks and other protective gear as needed Capable of understanding and addressing guest needs through positive and solution-oriented interactions Must adhere to all CFI/Westgate Resorts policies and procedures Must represent Westgate Resorts professionally at all times through appearance, attire, and behavior Perform other tasks as assigned by resort operations leadership Qualifications Must be detail-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to various tasks, perform effectively under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines Minimum of six years of mid-to-senior-level leadership experience in a resort or commercial environment High school diploma required; a bachelor’s or associate degree in a maintenance-related field is preferred To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each essential function satisfactorily.
