JOB SUMMARY

Directs and manages advising at the departmental level. Plans, designs, creates and administers an advising program for students that meets the college’s long-term goal of creating an excellent education and extraordinary experience. Advises and supports undergraduate students to aid in timely and successful degree progress. Assesses student needs and identifies and refer students to resources. Develops and implements student programs to support retention and engagement. Serves as primary registration coordinator for the department. Other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Manage the work of others, including hiring, training, developing, and monitoring the performance of departmental advisors and/or registration coordinators. Supports direct reports with trouble-shooting of complex issues. Keeps current on the latest research, analysis methods, and national trends. Advocates to incorporate best practices to position the department at the forefront of advising. 40%

Registration Coordination:

Coordinates and manages course schedule development and input of the schedule into the University’s scheduling system. Activities include adding/changing sections, managing capacities, adding instructors, adjusting or locating rooms, and setting meeting times. Assists in resolving registration problems including overrides, requesting a closed course, and registration errors. Interfaces with registration services to ensure all University rules and regulations are met. 20%

Academic Progress:

Advises and counsels students on academic progress. Advises and counsels students on University and departmental policies, major selection, engagement opportunities, and personal development to help students understand expectations and requirements.
Identifies student issues and refers students to other campus resources as needed. Serves as a key resource to faculty and administrative officers regarding student information and policies. 10%

Service:

Participates in departmental, College, and University wide initiatives related to advising and student success by providing staff support, knowledge, and expertise to ensure a successful program. Assists with College recruiting and engagement programming as needed.

Education

Expected Salary Range:

00 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
