The Mechanical Engineering Manager leads Engineering staff through hands-on design, validation, and technical development of automated food processing machinery. This individual leverages effective teamwork, negotiation skills, and sound judgment to translate product specifications into technical solutions using excellent verbal and written communication skills, an orientation toward details, and effective analytical problem-solving. Located in Columbia Tennessee, Mechanical Engineering takes product ownership from definition through end of life including addressing manufacturing issues and customer field concerns. This is a multidisciplinary role requiring knowledge of Mechanical and Manufacturing engineering.

Requirements:
  • Leading, mentoring, developing, and managing the work of and Engineering team
  • Designing components to be manufactured via machining, sheet metal bending/rolling, welding, CNC machining and other related processes using Autodesk Inventor CAD models and drawings.
  • Validating designs to assure compliance with product specifications, regulatory requirements, international standards and best practices.
  • Creating and modifying product Bills of Materials
  • Performing tolerance analyses
  • Leading Design and Drawing Reviews
  • Updating product requirements and specification documents
  • Supporting the development of project schedules and budgets
  • Solving field issues by performing and documenting Root Cause Analyses and Corrective Action Plans
  • Growing and maintaining the engineering knowledge base
  • Traveling to customer locations as needed to troubleshoot issues and ensure programs meet deadlines.
  • Working with suppliers to ensure components meet design requirements.
  • Delivering presentations on technical findings and project status to cross-functional teams and management
  • Contributing to Engineering process development
  • Complying with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
Education:

B.S. in Engineering from ABET accredited university required. M.S. in Engineering preferred.

Experience and Background:

12+ years of relevant experience Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with high level of autonomy. Advanced technical writing and documentation skills Ability to analyze complex data. Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and methodologies Advanced problem-solving skills A high degree of initiative and self-motivation 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation, preferably using Autodesk Inventor PDM experience, preferably Vault Ability to assess structural finite element analyses to accurately predict performance.

Preferred Experience:

Design of Heavy machinery, preferably food processing equipment Design of combustion devices Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) per

ANSI Y14.5
