  • The Role
  • The Planning Engineer II within Lumen’s Access Assurance Jeopardy Resolution Team is primarily responsible for resolving jeopardy and capacity issues.

Additionally, this role involves managing NetEx costs, driving proactive margin improvements, fielding ad hoc inquiries, performing detailed analyses, and executing necessary changes to support the Access Assurance Program within the Access Management Organization.

  • The Main Responsibilities
  • + Quickly and accurately resolve complex (Tier 2+) access jeopardy issues impacting off-net orders, while adhering to team SLA and process standards in support of service delivery to customers.

+ Support the team’s financial target through direct cost avoidance contributions, reviewing off-net pricing changes and non-recurring charges to maintain financial guardrails. + Negotiate and coordinate with off-net access vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely customer order solutions, including handling ICB offnet pricing. + Conduct root cause analysis to drive efficiencies and reduce off-net access jeopardies, while identifying and implementing new areas of improvement within the business. + Analyze data and processes in response to inquiries and business problems. + Manage and inventory fiber ties in PRO. + Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

  • What We Look For in a Candidate
  • Required
  • + Typically 5+ years professional experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and experience or 2-3 years with a Master’s Degree.

+ Strong accountability, ownership, and decision-making skills. + Proven ability to independently make complex, detail-oriented decisions based on data analysis. + Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines with minimal direct supervision. + Experience with off-net vendor coordination and negotiation. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Proficiency in MS Excel.

  • Preferred
  • + Expert-level knowledge of local access technologies, products, and relevant equipment.

+ Previous experience interacting/negotiating directly with off-net vendor partners. + In-depth knowledge of: + Affiliate LEC products, network architecture, and the Simply On-net program. + Third-party local access, including NetEx costs and third-party vendor contracts. + COG manual quoting process. + Sales, order entry (OE), and service delivery processes/workflows. + Understanding of data and transport architecture, including potential latency impacts. + Superior collaboration skills with a demonstrated ability to develop strong interdepartmental relationships and excellent cross-functional aptitude, particularly in working with various planning and implementation teams. + Expert-level proficiency in MS Excel, including advanced data evaluation techniques. + Preferred systems knowledge: AMS/ROC, IFO, Scenario Manager, COMET, Access Assurance Tool, iSE, and VFO. + Working knowledge of FlightDeck, PRO, ASRi, and Swift.

  • This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
  • Location Based Pay Ranges:
  • $66,375
  • $88,500 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY. $69,694
  • $92,925 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI. $73,013
  • $97,350 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
