Project Engineer Job Description The Program Engineer is responsible for managing and executing all phases of product launch projects, from planning through production. This includes leading APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) activities, coordinating cross-functional teams, maintaining project timelines, and ensuring deliverables meet customer and company expectations for quality, budget, and timing. Responsibilities Manage project planning and timing milestones; coordinate resources and activities to support various forms of product launches. Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities for assigned projects, ensuring synchronization of internal and customer timelines. Prepare, maintain, and track project plans that meet milestone, budget, and quality requirements. Communicate project status, issues, timelines, and action items to management and stakeholders regularly. Support customer needs through pilot builds, testing, run-at-rate events, and internal process sign-offs. Present project status at defined milestone reviews, including actionable solutions to keep projects on track. Monitor the product lifecycle to ensure long-term customer satisfaction. Essential Skills Proficiency in project management. Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Experience in automotive engineering and product launch from cradle to grave. Ability to develop quotes and act as the point of contact for customers. Knowledge of APQP process. Additional Skills & Qualifications Stamping experience. Experience with equipment installation. Skills in machine studies, automotive stamping, design, manufacturing process, and machine installation. Work Environment The work environment consists of approximately 60% desk work. The team includes two launch coordinators who spend most of their time on the floor, setting parts and checking quality. The engineer will spend some time on the floor but will primarily focus on desk work. The position offers benefits including holiday and paid time off.
