Position Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager – Automation Solutions Business Unit (ASBU), the Sr Manager of Engineering will be responsible for direct oversight of technical and engineering staff to deliver high quality and efficient manufacturing solutions in support of the business. As a member of the ASBU leadership team, the Sr Manager of Engineering will be instrumental in performance and development of the Engineering teams. This position is critical to facilitate collaboration with internal partners and to create capability to effectively support and grow the business.
This position can be based in Milwaukee, Randolph or Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Regular travel to both Oshkosh and Randolph is required.

Major Responsibilities:

Develop the structure and manage the engineering organization to ensure key initiatives are met on time and within budget. Lead change within the production Engineering teams through visual daily management and continuous improvement around project efficiency, accuracy and on-time delivery
Mentor team and develop a strong pipeline of engineering talent.
Work with SPD team to identify and implement engineering standards and process improvements to improve efficiency and productivity within the department.
Monitor and adjust department resources to ensure progress against project, schedules and budgets; allocate resources as required to accomplish goals.
Provide technical oversight and coordination of project engineering work.
Perform administrative and oversight functions in approving proposals, expenditures, enforcing policies and hiring of engineers.
Work closely with internal departments/functions and customers to provide input and guidance on technical issues and negotiate and finalize engineering requirements.
Interface with sales, applications and manufacturing regarding customer technical requirements and specifications.
Work closely with Regal Rexnord’s Conveying Group to assure functional direction is consistent with overall company objectives.
Evaluate customer conveyor designs or failures.
Develop detailed assembly and installation drawings of conveyor, components and manage projects of overall conveying design configuration.
Perform design calculations and prepare material specifications.
Make sketches, schematics and CAD drawings to provide information to ensure that customer requirements are being met or improved.
Use a variety of engineering skills to assist in problem resolution, including but not limited to; problem solving skills, CAD, statistical methods and assorted computer hardware and software packages.

Process Improvement:

Gain understanding of internal processes and procedures, identify and implement opportunities to streamline engineering workflow and increase engineering capacity.
Work with manufacturing departments to identify and implement productivity and efficiency improvements throughout the manufacturing processes, utilizing RBS tools and concepts.
Investigate variables that may present process problems and find solutions.
Make recommendations regarding improved design.
Research and develop new enhancements to meet the needs of specific customer applications.
Devise and execute a methodology for discovering and analyzing new technology development relevant to the ASBU manufacturing processes.
Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantage, and limitations which affect long range plant and gear engineering planning.
As a Key Leadership Team Member for ASBU.
Participation in overall business decision making, policy setting, budget control and strategy development.
Along with other management members, shared accountability for BU performance as related to annual and mid-term objectives.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or other relevant technical or related field
MBA preferred
7-10 years’ minimum of results-oriented experience in manufacturing facilities.
5 years minimum experience supervising and providing direct technical leadership to multicultural engineering team
Proficiency with AutoCAD suite
