SUMMARY:
- Manages and supervises the Manufacturing Engineeringdepartment and oversees facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

- Other duties may beassigned.
- Plans and formulates aspects of research and developmentproposals such as objective or purpose of project, applicationsthat can be utilized from findings, costs of project, andequipment.
Reviews and analyzes proposals submitted to determine ifbenefits derived and possible applications justifyexpenditures. Approves and submits proposals considered feasible tomanagement for consideration and allocations of funds. Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoringprojects such as preparation of records of expenditures andresearch findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, inorder to inform management of current status of each project. Negotiates contracts and selects vendors to perform developmentand fabrication of automation, tooling, and services used in themanufacturing processes. May be required to manage the Tool & Die department includingthe planning of project and work schedules, equipment, repair andmaintenance assistance, and other resources. Performs other tasks and duties that are related to theManufacturing Engineer job description. May be required to manage the patent liaison work that isretained from legal firms. Oversees facilities projects andmaintenance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Requires knowledgetypically acquired through: Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college oruniversity; Five to seven years related experience or training; and/orequivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific andtechnical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints fromcustomers and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks asfrequency distribution, determination of test reliability andvalidity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, samplingtheory, and factor analysis. Ability to effectively present information and respond toquestions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employeesand the general public.
- Requires ability to define problems, collect data, establishfacts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Requires ability to apply principles of logical or scientificthinking to a wide range of intellectual and practicalproblems.
