The Job You Will Perform:

The key accountabilities listed below are not to be considered all-inclusive; a team member may be required to perform additional tasks, as directed, based on changing business needs of the company. Serve as a technical expert for Environmental compliance for Mill business units. Identify, assess, and recommend approaches to ensure the Mill maintains compliance and resolve potential non-compliance in a timely and cost effective manner, engaging key stakeholders throughout.
Manage and compile environmental compliance reports and permit renewals for the following permits: NPDES Permit, Groundwater Withdrawal Permit, Surface Water Withdrawal Permit, Storm Water Permit, Solid Waste Handling Permit and Potable Water Permit. Serve as process owner of the environmental testing conducted by the Central Lab to include Flint River and Lake Blackshear sampling, which is accessed by boat.
Conduct storm water sampling and additional environmental sampling as needed.
Manages data gathering, calculations and daily follow-ups pertaining to central lab environmental testing, wastewater effluent treatment and holding pond management.
Update environmental procedures and provide environmental training as needed.
Serve as IPCC for the mill waste hauling and landfill contractors and manage the daily landfill operations.
Manage the mill’s hazardous waste, universal waste, SPCC plan, and recycling programs.
Drive continuous and deliberate improvement including systems development to insure compliance and prevent problems.
Align environmental strategies for the Mill to achieve Company, Business and Mill objectives including Sustainability goals.
Provide support during development and implementation of regulatory compliance projects and programs.
Promote and utilize employee engagement to achieve desired results.
Interact with regulatory agencies.
Interact with corporate leaders and Subject Matter Experts.
Manage resources such as consultants and/or salaried staff as required to prepare accurate and timely compliance reports and permits.
Knowledgeable of emerging environmental regulations.
Serve on environmental weekend rotation team. Quality Expectations Ensure an understanding of quality policy and support efforts for a positive customer experience.
Aid in the execution of mill-wide quality efforts as needed to help maintain mill quality standards.

The Skills You Will Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or environmental sciences/management or related degree.
Minimum of

  • 3-5 years’ environmental experience in a broad range of manufacturing.

Experience with regulatory & electronic reporting systems (e.g., Net

DMR, GEOS

) is preferred.
Possess or have the ability to obtain the following licenses and certifications: GA Water Operator Class IV License or higher, GA Wastewater Operator Class III License or higher, GA Wastewater Lab Analyst License, GA Landfill Operator Certification, Asbestos Abatement Project Management Certification, and GSWCC Level 1A Erosion and Sedimentation Certification or higher.
Track record of success in working in a team environment.
Capable of managing multiple concurrent tasks.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good computer skills in common applications, i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong written & verbal communication skills; presentation and training delivery skills.
Expert knowledge of regulatory requirements.
