We are recruiting an Environmental Engineer for Louisiana Station, a power plant located in Baton Rouge. This position is responsible for implementation and on-going support of environmental policies, procedures, and compliance programs at the facility. Qualified candidates must be able to self-start and exhibit a high degree of initiative with ability to work independently. Successful candidates must also have 5 years of experience in environmental compliance. Strong preference for those with a work history in a power plant, cogeneration, refinery or other related industrial facility.
Job Responsibilities
Lead implementation of site-specific Environmental programs
Serve as technical environmental subject matter expert for plant personnel and
LDEQ/EPA
interactions including Acid Rain, Greenhouse Gas, Title V operating permits, CEMS/EDR data collection and reporting, SPCC plans, solid waste impoundment and permitting, solid, hazardous, PCB, and asbestos waste management/regulations, LPDES industrial and sanitary water permitting and Tier II reporting.
Maintain complete electronic and physical environmental compliance records in order to produce such required records for regulatory and corporate compliance inspections and audits.
Complete and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reporting
Maintain site-specific permits and plans including providing data and support for permit modification renewal applications
Design, develop, track and facilitate environmental training and presentations.
Conduct periodic Environmental inspections and implement corporate environmental programs and initiatives
Support development and implementation of site annual Environmental plans, goals, and strategies for improving environmental performance.
Communicate with regulatory agencies and owners as necessary to address issues relating to environmental permitting, reporting, deviations, and enforcement issues.
Lead reviews of and prepare reports for environmental or regulatory deviations to ensure that effective investigations focus on cause and corrective measures are implemented.
Develop and periodically review plant environmental procedures, recommending necessary improvements.
Manage, populate, maintain and improve EthosEnergy tools, processes and systems, particularly the compliance management and incident reporting tools.
Assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis as needed.
Improve Environmental skills and knowledge through continuing education and training
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Knowledge
Knowledge of environmental, industrial hygiene, and safety laws and regulations, federal and state (preferably Louisiana)
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be a self-starter that works well with minimal supervision, coordinating resources as needed.
Must be computer proficient (Microsoft Office Suites, Learning Management Systems, EPA and local government reporting software, etc.)
Experience
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in environmental compliance
Experience working in a power plant, cogeneration, refinery or other industrial facility preferred
Education Requirements
A four-year degree or commensurate experience/professional training in environmental, safety, engineering, or related science discipline
Physical Requirements
Position requires periods of intense physical exertion, including walking, climbing, and lifting.
Ability to lift and move material up to 50 pounds.
