Summary:
The Environmental Engineer is accountable fordepartmental management of environmental systems, permitting andpermit compliance, and being part of a productive environmentalhealth & safety team. Ensure regulatory compliance through theeducation and training of employees in environmental practices,knowledge of emergency procedures, administration of companyenvironmental policies for compliance to local, state, and federalregulations. Supports operations in the implementation andpromotion of proactive environmental initiatives with the goals ofattaining regulatory compliance. Responsible for recommending andimplementing EHS best practices across the organization. Lead thestandardization of environmental programs, processes, policies,compliance efforts, training, and metrics.
Essential JobFunctions/Duties:
??????Administers/ensures the proper managementof environmental permits ACDP, WPCF,1200-Z, complying with ofenvironmental laws and regulations. Perform routine inspections ofair pollution control devices, hazardous waste storage areas.
Management and disposal of hazardous and universal waste disposalAssesses and performs complex analyses, chemical assessments andinteractions supporting the wastewater treatment plant, abatementsystems, and manufacturing operations. Leads troubleshooting anddesign of potential changes to environmental systems includingabatement and treatment. Interacts with consultants, suppliers, andregulatory agencies regarding permitting and permit management.
Compiles regulatory reports for air, water, waste, TSCA, FireMarshall, and other regulatory requirements. Collaborateseffectively with internal and external stakeholders. Advisemanagement on matters related to environmental compliance andregulatory changes and trends Assess, recommend, and supportstandardized processes, practices, policies, training, and metricsacross Albany Titanium Group. Work on/participate in projects asneeded or assigned. Performs documentation management. Review plansand specifications for new machinery and equipment, permittingwithin environmental permit requirements. Assess new chemicalintroduction impacts to wastewater, permits, work integrally withsafety members. Identify and correct potential hazards byinspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment. Develop anddeliver training of employees to regulatory requirements includingRCRA and other programs. Maintain and apply knowledge of currentpolicies, regulations, and industrial processes. Consult withmanufacturing regarding chemical operations related to by-products,chemical interactions, waste disposition. Respond and consultduring environmental emergencies on proper methods of clean-up orprocess control. Responsible for knowledge and understanding of EHSregulations and requirements and developing and implementingprograms to meet those requirements. Maintains a safe workenvironment
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from anaccredited college or university in Environmental Science, Chemicalor Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or relatedfield. Prefer 2 years of Environmental, experience in aManufacturing environment Working knowledge of EnvironmentalPrograms such as RCRA, CAA, CWA, CERCLA, Stormwater, TSCA, REACH,RoHS, a plus Working knowledge of hazardous waste management andperforming waste determinations Able to work independently and in ateam environment. Ability to influence without direct authorityStrong communication skills; both verbal and written Team oriented
