The primary responsibilities of the Post Doctoral Fellow will be: synthesis of hydrogel microspheres; experiments in a microfluidic reactor; proposal/grant writing; supervision of undergraduates and graduate students; and other duties as assigned. Synthesize hydrogel microspheres. This duty will involve preparation of at least four different recipes for temperature-responsive hydrogels. Synthesis will be performed in a glove box with a microfluidic chip. Investigate transport properties of the hydrogel microspheres as a function of temperature, total dissolved solids, recipe, pressure, and pH. The transport experiments will be performed in a circulation apparatus that couples a flow-through reactor to a flow-through fluorescence spectrophotometer and a flow-through capillary-equipped microscope. Collaborate on one or more grant proposal efforts, including identifying funding sources, conceptualizing proposal ideas, literature review, and writing. Supervision of undergraduates and/or graduate students, including editing manuscripts, overseeing experiments, and safety training. Qualifications
