As a Maintenance & Reliability Engineer at Clariant’s Quincy, FL site, you will lead mechanical troubleshooting and reliability initiatives for our Adsorbents and Additives Business Unit. You’ll identify and resolve complex technical issues, implement preventive maintenance strategies, and collaborate across departments to ensure follow-through on reliability improvements. Your expertise in root cause analysis and equipment failure prevention will be crucial as you work directly with site personnel to build a reliability-focused culture. This role combines technical problem-solving with effective communication to drive measurable improvements in equipment uptime, safety, and sustainability. Responsibilities
Lead and continuously improve site reliability and mechanical integrity programs to enhance equipment performance, reduce repair costs, and ensure compliance with ESHA standards.
Identify and implement strategies to improve equipment uptime and extend Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
Conduct and lead root cause analyses of equipment failures, driving corrective and preventive actions to eliminate repeat issues.
Maintain accurate technical documentation—including equipment records, drawings, and procedures—and drive the digitization of maintenance records for improved performance tracking.
Manage the Management of Change process for all maintenance and engineering modifications.
Develop and maintain maintenance department documentation (SOPs, work instructions) using Intelex and other digital platforms.
Lead and support Equipment Hazard and Workplace Analyses and Process Risk Assessments to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
Support the successful planning, execution, and start-up of Reliability & Maintenance capital projects.
Contribute to multi-year maintenance cost reduction and Clean Operations strategies.
Ensure alignment with key maintenance KPIs
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (any discipline but mechanical or electrical preferred)
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years or more of industry experience (chemical plant or minerals processing facility preferred)
Lean Six Sigma training, knowledge of MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint), experience SAP or similar programs highly preferred
