During his watch the 3rd Engineer assists the Engineer WatchOfficer (EWO) by locally monitoring the safe and efficientoperation of all propulsion and auxiliary systems inside the engineroom and keeps him informed. He assists Staff Chief Engineer and/or2nd Engineer with the maintenance and repair of engine roommachinery and equipment. If the 3rd Engineer is assigned to Hotel maintenance, he assiststhe Hotel Maintenance Manager with the daily maintenance and repairof Hotel equipment and with refurbishment projects.
