This position is located in Daytona Beach, Florida and will be responsible for technical, supervisory work with environmental systems support at the Ocean Center. •

Note:

Applicants must be willing to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Responsible for the highly skilled installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of all phases of the commercial HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and sound systems in the convention center complex. Complies with inventory, operation, purchasing, and technical procedures prescribed by supervisory personnel. Reads blueprints, troubleshoots, removes, tests, repairs, and replaces system components as required. Interfaces permanent building systems in harmony with supplemental and/or client supplied equipment.

Performs plumbing repairs and modifications to water-supported systems.

Assists external service vendors and contractors as required.

Safeguards equipment and supplies.

Assigns, directs, supervises, and checks the work of full-time and part time trades workers.

Advises supervisor of systems status as required.

Installs sound system components and makes adjustments to the sound system.

Installs internet service to event vendors and producers. Maintains irregular work schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays as required by the supervisor for the servicing of events and other scheduled or nonscheduled requirements in the Ocean Center.

May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational duties.

Attends work on a regular and consistent basis.

Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances.

Responds to emergency situations.

Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Knowledge of major state of the art chilled/hot water heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC). Knowledge of and ability to operate computerized building automation systems (e.g. Johnson Controls Metasys). Knowledge and experience with large computerized commercial sound systems. Knowledge of temporary and portable electrical systems for a major public assembly facility. Knowledge of 480 volt and 208 volt, 3 phase electrical systems of various amperage loads.

Ability to install, operate, maintain, and repair HVAC systems of all types. Ability to install, operate, maintain, and repair both temporary and permanent electrical systems.

Ability to effectively supervise employees.

Ability to read blueprints and technical manuals. Ability to troubleshoot, remove, test, and repair/replace system components. Ability to perform plumbing repairs and modifications to water-supported systems.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to work under fast-paced, stressful conditions.

Must be able to relocate to other county locations based upon operational needs.

Physical Demands:

Ability to lift, carry, push and pull 50 pounds. Ability to hear, grasp, turn, handle, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach and balance. Visual acuity (e.g. depth perception, peripheral vision, and color acuity) necessary to operate a motorized vehicle and read schematics.

Mental Demands:

Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, layouts, technical manuals and instructions, safety instructions, procedures, policies. Ability to write work orders, evaluations, summaries. Ability to speak clearly and concisely relating information, details and procedures to layman. Ability to perform shop math functions.

Environmental Demands:

Generally inside work.
