Professional Engineer
As a Professional Engineer with a leading Southeast-based design/build firm, you’ll play a key role in both the technical design and strategic planning phases of major commercial and light industrial projects. This hands-on, leadership-focused role involves direct client interaction, energy simulations, and full-system designs for both new construction and renovation work.
Some local/regional travel is required for site inspections and coordination—typically one day per week or every other week. A company gas card is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, negotiate, and maintain engineering scopes
Align budgets with design scope alongside operations
Perform load calculations using Trane Trace 700 or Trace 3D Plus
Conduct life-cycle cost analysis and evaluate alternatives
Coordinate with architectural and engineering teams
Produce specifications and sequences of operations
Manage client commitments and internal collaboration
Build and maintain client relationships
Prioritize key deliverables to meet project timelines
Design HVAC and plumbing systems end to end
Conduct site inspections and provide technical reporting
Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers
This is a direct-hire opportunity offering a strong salary, excellent benefits, and long-term project stability. Primarily office and site-based. A relocation sign-on bonus (up to $10K) is available depending on the candidate.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Active PE license
7-10 years of experience in HVAC systems from concept to completion
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)

PREFERRED SKILLS

Extensive mechanical and plumbing design experience
Trane Trace 700 / 3D Plus proficiency
Understanding of system costs and field installs
AutoCAD and MS Office experience
Strong client-facing and mentorship capabilities
