We’re seeking an experienced HVAC Mechanical Engineer to support amajor government construction project based in Oak Ridge,Tennessee. This role is ideal for a mechanically mindedprofessional who’s comfortable applying HVAC principles in a highlytechnical environment. This position starts as a one-year contractwith competitive hourly pay and the possibility of extension. You’ll be part of a collaborative engineering team tacklingeverything from design and commissioning to safety analysis andcode compliance. What You’ll Do:
Develop and update HVAC design documents, including V&IDs andformal calculations. Contribute to the design, review, and commissioning of mechanicalsystems. Assist with walkdowns, testing, and safety evaluations on site. Support hazard and safety analysis related to HVAC systems. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to resolvemechanical interface issues. Interpret industry codes and regulatory standards to ensurecompliance. Serve as a technical resource for both the project team andconstruction management.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 2-5 years of professional engineering experience, or 6-9 years ofrelevant industry experience without a degree. Solid understanding of mechanical system design, especiallyHVAC. Familiarity with codes and standards (especially ASHRAE). Proficiency in software tools such as: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Trane TRACE•700 and VariTrane•Duct Designer FATHOM and Arrow fluid analysis programs Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Experience with construction environments and an understanding ofproject execution cycles.
