Job Description This role provides design engineering support to the TRISO-X fuelproduction facility, from research and development to systemdesign, installation, testing, and maintenance. The rolecontributes to the design, assembly, testing, and maintenance ofmechanical and process equipment, furthering the design andlicensing of the TRISO-X Facility.

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:

Create designs for various process support systems (chemical,piping, HVAC, ventilation, structural, electro-mechanical,automation and robotics). Including load calculations, system sizing, equipmentselection, and layout of ductwork, piping, and facilityventilation. Support the process, facility design, and fuel developmentteams. Create and document engineering designs [requirements,specifications, mechanical drawings, process flow diagrams (PFDs),piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), engineeringcalculations, etc.]. Conduct energy modeling, simulations, and engineeringcalculations to enhance efficiency and sustainability, ensuring alldesigns meet regulatory and safety standards. Coordinate with design teams to ensure seamless integration ofHVAC and other mechanical systems into the overall building designand support the development of fuel manufacturing processes. Work with contractors to clarify design intent, resolvetechnical issues, and provide solutions to site challenges. Select and order parts for process systems (motors, drives,sensors, pumps, valves, etc.). Assemble parts to build prototype designs. Operate process equipment to perform design verification andvalidation and conduct quality assurance checks and siteinspections to verify work compliance, addressing any deviations ordeficiencies. Perform design engineering activities to support fuelmanufacturing (reliability, maintenance, process improvement,failure analysis, cost estimation, etc.). Develop standard operating procedures. Develop maintenance plans for process equipment and supportsystems. Participate in teams to develop standardized engineeringworkflows and documentation. Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in allforms of communication. Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities,listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of thisdocument, without close supervision and some latitude forindependent judgment. Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members withthe execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in theJob Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document. Lead small groups of engineers to solve complex technicalproblems and deliver high quality engineering work products on timeand within budget. Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, or nuclearengineering from a program accredited by the

ABET EAC

is required.

ETAC-accredited Engineering Technology programs will not beconsidered for this position. CAD and P&ID experience are required. Experience with facility design, construction, and operation isrequired. Typically, ten years of experience in an engineering role,including machine, process, or facility design and assembly. A master’s degree in engineering or related field (may includea combination of experience obtained through an academicinstitution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, aswell as professional experience) may be in lieu of two years ofexperience. A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include acombination of experience obtained through an academic institution,e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well asprofessional experience) may be in lieu of three years ofexperience. Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standardsmay be in lieu of years of experience. Knowledge of mechanical and/or chemical engineering concepts,including design, manufacture, installation, assembly, andoperation of equipment and systems which meet all manufacturingprocess and safety standards. Knowledge of manufacturing facility design, including leanmanufacturing approaches. Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards pertinentto mechanical and/or process designs. Knowledge of 2D/3D engineering and manufacturing tools, e.g.

ProE. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP, Trace TRACE, orsimilar design and simulation software.
