USCG Licensed Chief Engineer aboard The General Jackson Showboatat The Gaylord Opryland Nashville, TN Education and ExperienceCoast Guard Certification Required, Limited or above High schooldiploma or GED; 10 years experience in the engineering andmaintenance or related professional area; technical training inHVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. OR Bachelor’s degree from an accrediteduniversity in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, orrelated major; 5 years experience in the engineering andmaintenance or related professional area.

CORE WORK

ACTIVITIESAssisting with the Management of Engineering Operations and Budgets

  • Assists with managing the physical plant including equipment,refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and electricalsystems.
  • Assists with promoting regulatory compliance to facilityregulations and safety standards.
  • Assists with managing andcontrolling heat, light and power and recommends current bestmethods for energy conservation and economical facility operations.
  • Assists with the development of specifications and requirementsfor service contracts and administers such contracts to supportbuilding needs.
  • Distributes preventive maintenance and repairwork orders and monitors timeliness and quality of completion.
  • Assists with the oversight of the maintenance of grounds,guestrooms, public space, restaurants, property vehicles andrecreational facilities.
  • Assists with the development of a longterm plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection andoverseeing execution of plan.
  • Builds positive relationships withexternal customers such as city building/zoning department, fireprevention bureau and vendors.
  • Ensures fire crew has completeunderstanding of all procedures, equipment and alarms.
  • Performsmonthly property inspection to verify buildings and grounds aremaintained in excellent condition.
  • Inspects and evaluates thephysical condition of facilities in order to determine the type ofwork required.
  • Selects and orders or purchases new equipment,supplies, and furnishings.
  • Manages parts and equipment inventory.

Maintaining Property Standards

  • Verifies building and equipmentlicenses and certifications are current.
  • Maintains property lifesafety systems, firefighting equipment, sprinkler systems and alarmsystems. Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
  • Displaysleadership in guest hospitality, exemplifying excellent customerservice and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Establishes guidelines so employees understand expectations andparameters.
  • Reviews comment cards, guest satisfaction results andother data to identify areas of improvement.
  • Shares plans withproperty leadership and ensures corrective action is taken tocontinuously improve guest satisfaction.
  • Strives to improveservice performance. Managing and Conducting Human ResourcesActivities
  • Interviews, selects and trains employees
  • Appraisesemployee’s productivity and efficiency for the purpose ofrecommending promotions or other changes in status
  • Provides forthe safety and security of the employees or the property
  • Monitorsemployee attendance and records absences/tardiness.
  • Helps directsupervisors to achieve their own development goals.
  • Conductsannual performance appraisal with direct reports according toStandard Operating Procedures.

The salary range for this positionis $74,000 to $101,000 annually.
