POSITION SUMMARY
Respond and attend to guest repair requests.
Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issueswith little to no supervision. Perform preventive maintenance ontools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication. Visuallyinspect tools, equipment, or machines. Carry equipment (e.g.,tools, radio). Identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valvesfor equipment. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition partsand supplies as needed. Assure each day’s activities and problemsthat occur are communicated to the other shifts using approvedcommunication programs and standards. Display advanced ability toread standard blue prints and electrical schematics concerningplumbing and HVAC. Display above average engineering operationsskills and strong general mechanical ability. Display proficiencyin at least three of the following categories, above average skillsin three more of the following categories and basic skills in theremaining categories: air conditioning and refrigeration,electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems andcontrols, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles,energy conservation, and/or general building management. Displaysolid knowledge and skill in the safe use of hand and power toolsand other materials required to perform repair and maintenancetasks. Safely perform highly complex repairs of the physicalproperty, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, airconditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters – ensuring allmethods, materials and practices meet company standards and Localand National codes – with little or no supervision. Troubleshootand perform repairs on all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motorreplacement), plumbing (e.g., plunge toilets and unclog drains),electrical equipment including lamps, air conditioners, HVACequipment, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners,internet devices, replace electrical switches and outlets, andprogram TV’s. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing anymaintenance work. Display advanced knowledge of all engineeringcomputer programs related to preventative maintenance, energymanagement, and other systems, including devices that interact withsuch programs. Perform advanced troubleshooting of hotelMechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Display theability to train and mentor other engineers as necessary. Displayability to perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, includingreadings and rounds. Follow all company and safety and securitypolicies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safetyhazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training andcertifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensureuniform and personal appearances are clean and professional,maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protectcompany assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according tocompany standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs,assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuineappreciation. Adhere to quality expectations and standards. Developand maintain positive working relationships with others, supportteam to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately tothe concerns of other employees. Speak with others using clear andprofessional language. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and placeobjects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistanceand heavier lifting or movement tasks with assistance. Move up anddown stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders. Reach overhead andbelow the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, andstooping. Enter and locate work-related information usingcomputers. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D.equivalent and vocational or technical background.
Related WorkExperience:
Extensive experience and training in generalmaintenance, electrical or refrigeration, parts inventory andrequisition, exterior and interior surface preparation andpainting. At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenanceexperience.
Supervisory Experience:
No supervisory experience.
