DESCRIPTION

Job Requirements
The Chief Engineer plays a critical leadership role in ensuring hotel operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. Reporting to the General Manager and working in coordination with corporate leadership, the Chief Engineer leads the onsite engineering and maintenance team, overseeing all aspects of facility management, maintenance operations, and preventative care. This role ensures that all systems and equipment are in top working condition and that the property remains in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Work Experience
Serve as the primary engineering leader on property, mentoring and supervising maintenance staff while ensuring high standards in facility operations.
Collaborate with the General Manager to identify propertyspecific capital needs and assist in planning and executing capital improvements.
Provide input on engineering budgets and manage repair and maintenance expenses effectively.
Oversee and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and all hotel facilities.
Ensure building systems operate safely and efficiently, maintaining full compliance with OSHA, ADA, and local, state, and federal codes.
Maintain engineering documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), vendor lists, warranty information, and technical specifications.
Keep an organized task log of all current and outstanding maintenance issues, with clear deadlines and accountability.
Support new hotel openings with preopening engineering setup, including R/M budget preparation and task force participation.
Provide routine updates to property leadership and corporate teams on maintenance activities and project progress.
Assist in vendor selection and manage vendor performance to ensure quality service and compliance with expectations.
Act as a technical resource for emergency situations, renovation projects, and larger facility improvements.
Travel may be required for project support, with regular property visits and postvisit reports summarizing findings and recommendations.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in hotel engineering or facility maintenance leadership.
Strong technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs or more.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Deep understanding of building safety codes, fire/life safety standards, and ADA compliance.
Skilled in implementing preventive maintenance programs and coordinating vendor relationships.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
