Overview
The successful candidate will join the Technical Publications group of the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) organization and will be the team’s electrical subject matter expert. The primary focus of this group is development and submittal of the new and revised Ship Information Books (SIBs), Class System Manuals, Equipment Technical Manuals and Ship Information Guides required by BIWs New Construction, Lead Yard Services, and Planning Yard contracts. The Engineering Technician will be expected to perform the roles and responsibilities of the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC), which in addition to making efficient and accurate decisions and planning and managing the development of assigned technical manual deliverable products, is also responsible for evaluating approved ship and equipment changes for technical manual impact and ensuring that the technical content of the manuals is accurate and adequate for use by US Navy personnel to safely operate and maintain the shipboard systems and equipment.
The basic core job functions include, but are not limited to:
Interpret impact of ship alterations on SIBs.
Review drawings, technical manuals, change documentation, and/or other technical information to scope change to SIBs and Equipment Tech Manuals.
Execute changes within Adobe Acrobat Pro and navigate Navy repositories such as

MBPS IAW BIW

& Navy procedures and/or policies.
Maintain regular communication with assigned Engineering subject matter experts.
Actively participate in regularly scheduled internal/external training exercises.
All candidates are expected to successfully complete Model Based Product Support (MBPS) training in support of the Navys digital transformation initiative.

Qualifications
Technician

II – 1-4

years’ experience required

Technician III:

5-9 years’ experience required
Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral is required.
Strong mechanical aptitude required.
Performing functional Electrical Engineering analysis for installation of ShipAlts onto DDG 1000 and DDG 51 class ships in support of SIB and Equipment TM development.
Working knowledge of shipboard hull, mechanical and electrical equipment and systems preferred.
Basic Microsoft Office Suite experience required.
Ability to analyze technical documentation for accuracy and completeness preferred.
Working knowledge of US Navy technical documentation and terms highly preferred.
Ability to understand and interpret shipboard hull, mechanical and electrical equipment and system specifications and system drawings is preferred.
Familiarity with shipboard power distribution systems desired.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret diagrams, schematics, and blueprints/drawings, especially electrical, required.
Required to undergo and favorably pass a US Government security background investigation for DoD Secret Security Clearance if you do not already have one.
Current Secret Security Clearance with the US Government preferred.
This position requires you to be able to obtain a government security clearance. You must be a US Citizen for consideration and you must be able to obtain an interim security clearance within the first 45 days of hire.
