Job Description:

Torch Technologies, a 100% employee-owned business dedicated to providing superior research, development, and engineering services to the Department of Defense, is seeking a motivated and talented Junior Electrical Engineer to join our growing Technology Integration and Prototyping Center (TIPC) team. Our electronics design team within TIPC specializes in the development, integration, and testing of advanced hardware solutions for aerospace and military systems, including manned/unmanned air and ground vehicles, missile systems, radars, and space applications. The selected candidate will contribute to the design and development of embedded systems from concept through integration, testing, and delivery.

Responsibilities:

Assist in the design, layout, and documentation of complex hardware devices and systems, primarily focusing on PCB development using Altium Designer Create and manage schematic diagrams, component libraries, and layout constraints to support efficient and accurate circuit design Work closely with senior engineers to review, verify, and improve circuit designs, ensuring they meet performance and production requirements Participate in design reviews, hardware bring-up, functional testing, and debugging of prototypes to diagnose malfunctions and implement modifications for desired outcomes Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing to ensure design compatibility, manufacturability, and process alignment Support documentation efforts including Bills of Materials (BOMs), assembly drawings, test procedures, and technical specifications Compile and evaluate design and test data to inform design improvements and recommend design approaches for both new and existing products Interface with technical support personnel, drafters, technical writers, and engineering technicians as needed to ensure a seamless product development cycle

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in electrical design development. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret-level security clearance, US Citizenship is required. Familiarity with Alitum Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout Understanding of basic analog and digital circuit design principles Ability to interpret datasheets and component specifications Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with signal integrity, EMC design practices Exposure to design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for test (DFT) considerations Hands-on experience with lab tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, etc.) Experience with FPGA programming (VHDL/Verilog) is a plus. Experience with microcontrollers (ARM Cortex, PIC, AVR, etc.) and embedded development tools. U.S. Citizenship Required for this
