PCB Design Engineer Job Description As an Electrical Product Definition Engineer (Circuit Board Designer), you will be part of a team of electrical and mechanical engineers developing high-reliability electrical circuit boards for the aerospace industry and beyond. You will be a member of an Integrated Product Development Team and be responsible for completing on-time designs through final qualification and production release. Additionally, you will work directly with manufacturing and suppliers, leveraging their feedback into new designs. Responsibilities Overall ownership and accountability of product definition for assigned projects from launch through production. Create schematics and circuit board layouts for Single-Sided, Double-Sided, Multilayer, Flex, and Rigid Flex. Generate and review parts for library use. Create all associated drawings for the electrical portion of the design package and lead drawing reviews. Ensure proper configuration management on documents. Work within the guidelines of applicable policies, procedures, industry standards (IPC), product definition operating procedures, customer specifications, and government and commercial standards. Evaluate and influence new and revised engineering standards and product definition operating procedures. Ensure all interface characteristics between components are established and agreed upon by component owners of mating/interfacing parts. Concurrently manage multiple projects, monitoring progress and quality to ensure schedule requirements are met. Perform tolerance stack-up analysis. Have a thorough understanding of engineering drawing practices (ASME Y14.100). Interpret and clarify customer technical requirements. Define and maintain technical compliance to customer requirements. Develop design concepts for technical proposals. Implement legacy product improvements and provide manufacturing support. Conduct internal research and development. Resolve field issues. Essential Skills Proficiency in Xpedition. Proficiency in PADS. Familiarity with DX Designer (NX or other MCAD Tools and PCB Design Tools). Familiarity with HyperLynx. Working knowledge of IPC standards. Experience with multi-layer PCB layouts. Experience with surface mount digital board design. Experience with high voltage and high current layouts. Ability to manage electronic data files in a structured database environment. Web-based knowledge, word processing, and electronic spreadsheet/presentation skills. Ability to influence and work cross-functionally in a matrix organization. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (or High School Diploma/GED with at least 7 years of design experience). Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Work Environment This position is onsite in Jacksonville, FL. You will work closely with engineers of other functions including Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing to collaborate on new designs. The work environment involves interaction with manufacturing and suppliers to incorporate feedback into new designs.
