This individual will work under the direction of the HSVEH&S Manager to develop solutions to assigned technicalproblems and assigned daily tasks. Work is reviewed for soundtechnical judgement and overall adequacy. In this role you willhave an opportunity to build a strong understanding ofenvironmental, health and safety aspects as they relate to rocketengine and component manufacturing, processing and testing. Responsibilities:

40%

  • Works with supervision and employees inapplying occupational health, facility safety, ergonomics,emergency preparedness, and hazardous waste management. Activitiesare performed in accordance with organization and program standardsand procedures to foster a positive safety culture. Works withregulatory agencies, and other company site and externaloccupational safety professionals. 20%
  • Conducts area inspections and audits and evaluates the impactof emerging issues and regulations on company operations to ensurecompliance with regulatory and company policies in regard tosafety, health, and environmental requirements to maintain 100%regulatory and company policy requirements. 15%
  • Performs health and safety evaluations, investigations andmethodologies for continual improvement and prevention of employeeinjuries/illnesses and hardware/process improvements throughout thesite. Coordinates resolutions, evaluates engineering design andperforms safety analyses, ensuring appropriate selection of controlmeasures and hazard mitigation. 10%
  • Plans, develops, directs and assesses programs to achieve andmaintain a safe and healthy work environment, with emphasis onfacility safety programs and associated monitoring. 15%
  • Evaluates existing or emergent risk management controltechnologies and provides information, regulatory interpretation,and technical expertise to management and employees.
Required Skills:

Hazardous waste management experience (current RCRAand DOT training preferred). Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 8+ years’experience in safety, health and environment programs. Experience/knowledge of Environmental regulations (i.e., air,water/storm-water, waste, SPCC, EPCRA/SARA) including permittingand compliance. Experience with life safety programs (Confined space, control ofhazardous energy, hot work, working at heights, etc.). Full understanding of OSHA General and Construction safety andhealth standards is required. Excellent interpersonal skills (written & oral), with ability toresolve conflict, work with and as a team, be flexible andadaptable, have above average problem solving and analyticalskills, and be proactive. Familiar with root cause analysis, office and industrialergonomics, industrial hygiene monitoring, SDS reviews andinterpretations, and incident investigation methodology. Must be able to obtain security clearance upon request. Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast paced, ever-changingwork environment. The ability and willingness to occasionally work varying shifts andhours to ensure successful operation of activities in theorganization. Must possess mobility to work in a manufacturing environment alongwith a standard office setting, and able to use standard officeequipment, including a computer. Stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despiteinterruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25pounds. Will require frequent walking, climbing, stopping, crouching,and/or bending in a manufacturing environment; and vision to readprinted materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech tocommunicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto (Will require theuse of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safetyshoes, hearing protection and others as deemed necessary.
