The Fire Safety Engineer oversees therefinery fire protection systems, including pumps, pipingdistribution, deluge, and mobile and portable equipment. This rolemanages the overall process for completing inspection, testing, andmaintenance of the firewater systems within the refineries. Inaddition, this role provides engineering expertise to the refinerylife safety, fire, and other safety requirements to continuouslyimprove the refinery’s safety performance and readiness. Leads efforts to ensureperformance and maintenance of fixed fire water suppressioninfrastructure, plans jobs to minimize downtime, and suggestsinnovative ways to enhance system performance and efficiencies.
Evaluates fire protection risks, approves new installations andequipment, provides safety engineering expertise for capitalprojects, and serves as a technical resource on loss control, fireprotection, and safety matters. Oversees operating condition offire water system pressure and pump operations, conducts tests andanalyzes results to improve system capacity and reliability, andoversees all Fire Water System/Protection System repairs. Mentorand train new engineers and others within your work group whetheras their supervisor or just as an experienced individual sharinginformation for others to benefit. Participates as a member of theLake Charles Emergency Response Team and will respond to Level 2 &3 incidents and Level 1 incidents, as required. Manages SmallSafety TS&E/Capital Projects, develops AFEs, Project DesignBasis, detailed engineering documents, and Project Execution Plan,and ensures project implementation per the execution plan andwithin budget. Develops short-term and long-term capital andmaintenance plans for the firewater systems based on inspectionreports, repair analysis, and risk-based analysis from consultingservices.
