Regular Full-Time Overview We are seeking a full-time Packaging Engineer 2 in our Miramar, FL location. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and validating packaging solutions that align with business objectives and customer needs. Essential Functions Design and develop packaging solutions for a variety of products, considering factors such as product protection, transportation, storage, and presentation
Conduct packaging feasibility studies and assessments to determine the most suitable materials, processes, and designs for each project
Collaborate with product development teams to understand product specifications and requirements, and incorporate them into packaging designs
Utilize CAD software and other design tools to create 2D and 3D packaging prototypes and mock-ups for evaluation and testing
Perform packaging performance testing and analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards
Identify opportunities for packaging optimization, cost reduction, and sustainability improvements through material selection, design optimization, and process improvements
Work closely with suppliers and vendors to source packaging materials and components, negotiate pricing, and establish quality standards
Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and operations teams during packaging implementation and production ramp-up
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and customer service to develop packaging solutions that enhance brand identity and customer experience a sense of urgency, ownership, and focus on the right priorities in developing solutions in a timely fashion Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit a desire to see Garmin succeed
Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities
Overseas travel as required Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
Demonstrates knowledge of CAD software
Strong understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and supply chain logistics
Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of packaging regulations, standards, and sustainability principles (e.g.
ISTA, ASTM, ISO
)
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Desired Qualifications Previous work or internship experience in packaging design, particularly for consumer products
Previous experience working in a team environment
Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
