What You’ll Do:

As our Industrial Engineer , you’ll be a key player in optimizing our manufacturing processes to ensure we meet and exceed our goals. You’ll apply your expertise to improve production flow, enhance product quality, and increase overall efficiency in our wood products manufacturing operations. We’re looking for someone who thrives on problem-solving and implementing Lean methodologies to drive continuous improvement.

Key Performance Areas/Responsibilities Safety:

Observe/implement safe work practices, correct work practices to be safe providing an environment where team members can work injury free achieving a TIR of 2 or less. Will conduct safety and ergonomic assessments and be part of accident RCAs in the value stream(s) they support.

Quality:

Act as a change agent, seeking process control procedures to detect deviations from standard processes eliminating systemic rework or product issues before reaching final inspection/packaging. Goal is to reduce field reported issues and internal rework as a % of units shipped. Perform quality audits as required and maintain the gauge calibration program. Develop CTQs for various processes and assist in answering Voice of Customers (customer complaints).

People:

Personal accountability and dependability are critical to the success of each operational leader’s team. Assist in developing SOPs and training for various value streams.

Delivery:

Costs:

Labor:

productivity/efficiency as measured by overall output or output/labor hour worked. Conduct time studies and create production standards. Design and improve workstations by eliminating NVA work and create standard works after improvements.

Materials:

increased utilization, reduction of non-conforming materials being scrapped, resulting in lower material costs. Analyze inventory levels to establish Kanban’s on various consumable components.

Spending:

seek savings opportunities as component of each continuous improvement initiative, implemented procedure or product operation introduction. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the manager. What You Bring to the

Table:
Experience:

2-4 years working in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of production processes. B.S. in Industrial Engineering required.

Skills:

Strong problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team. DMAIC and/or Six Sigma experience a plus.

Lean Manufacturing:

Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles is highly preferred—a passion for streamlining workflows and reducing waste is a big plus!

Process Optimization:

You’ve got a knack for identifying inefficiencies and developing actionable solutions that improve productivity.

Quality Improvement:

Demonstrated ability to work on improving product quality by reducing defects, ensuring process consistency, and implementing quality control measures.

Workstation Design & Ergonomics:

Experience in designing/optimizing workstations for maximum productivity while considering ergonomic factors to improve worker comfort and reduce injury risk.

Line Balancing & Time Studies:

Expertise in balancing production lines, conducting time studies, and optimizing workflow to ensure each process runs efficiently with minimal downtime and bottlenecks.

Communication:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly.

Continuous Improvement:

A commitment to improving processes, safety, quality, and production performance.

Project Management:

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and proficient in MS Office. Proficiency with Q1 Macros a plus.
