Supplier Quality Engineer Job Description This position involves no supervisory responsibilities and requires the ability to interact effectively with various cross-functional teams. The role demands excellent oral and written communication skills to present information and respond to questions from managers, suppliers, customers, and the public. Responsibilities Develop and maintain an effective supplier quality system. Ensure compliance with procedures outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual, such as
ISO9001/IATF16949.
Lead supplier development activities and implement necessary changes. Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality. Conduct supplier quality audits in accordance with ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6 standards. Ensure the reliability and accuracy of products from the supply base and address nonconforming materials promptly. Coordinate supplier quality performance initiatives and track performance trends. Perform quality trend analysis from the supplier base and facilitate corrective actions. Support suppliers in developing robust processes to achieve the Zero Defect Initiative. Provide support to customers on supply-based issues. Essential Skills Thorough knowledge of quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement Equipment including MSA, and PPAP. Ability to read technical specifications and drawings. Strong problem-solving skills and experience in continuous improvement techniques. Proficiency in standard business applications software and specialized data analysis tools. Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification.
