This position reports toGlobal Supply Quality ManagerYour role and responsibilitiesThe Supplier Quality Engineer will provide leadership to ensure “best-in class” quality of product and services to ABB’s Electrification Installation Products (ELIP) division and its customers. They will be responsible for developing and execute strategies in collaboration with plants and sourcing teams to establish a robust supplier quality system as well as drive sustainable improvements in the quality of products and services within the ELIP supply base.

This is hands-on role serving on the front lines of protecting our customers and supply chain processes.

The ideal work locations for this role are Byhalia, MS or Jonesboro, AR (#LI-Hybrid). In this role our successful candidate should plan to travel up to 50% (visiting suppliers, trainings, manufacturing facilities).You will be mainly accountable for

  • Driving approval process for supplier parts, materials, and project subcontractor services, as applicable, involving collaboration with other functions/experts, encompassing activities like Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and product surveillance at supplier manufacturing sites
  • Leading in promptly addressing supply issues related to quality, deliveries, non-compliant products, or project services
  • Working together with buyers to engage suppliers and prepare claims cases when necessary
  • Ensuring required supplier development processes are thoroughly executed to drive continuous improvement of the supplier base.

Qualifications for the roleBachelor’s degree in engineering highly preferred (or significant, relevant experience in lieu of degree)Minimum 5 years in Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Quality with a significant portion of experience spent in dealing with supplier quality issuesPreferred experience with categories such as raw materials (steel, copper, aluminum), plastic resins, injection molded parts, sheet metal and stampings, fasteners, and castings as well as knowledge of quality standards such as IATF 16949Strong oral and written communication in English with problem solving and change management of facilitation skills.

The Division also manufactures solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under its marquee brands including Elastimold reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution.
