Description TITLE:
Plant Engineer
REPORTS TO
General Manager
BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for providing direction and support for the Maintenance Team Leader(s) in a specific plant location. Provide technical assistance on production equipment and interface with equipment suppliers as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Direct and support the equipment maintenance functions at a specific plant location through the Maintenance Team Leader in blow molding (and injection molding if applicable.) Act as a technical resource on production equipment. Provide expert advice on technical issues and support other plant locations when requested. 2. Develop permanent solutions to technical problems that result in improved machine life and reliability and contribute to the production of higher quality preforms and bottles. 3. Communicate effectively with engineers at all plant locations and share ideas between plants to insure improvements continue with input from all plants. Provide engineering and technical support, development of new ideas, re-engineering, design improvements, drawings, reliability engineering, technical troubleshooting, and project management. 4. Interface with the General Manager and other plant departments to develop and submit capital and expense budgets. 5. Coordinate and direct projects in conjunction with the Corporate Engineering Manager with a focus on continuous improvement and meeting budget constraints. Oversee outside vendors or contractors to insure successful completion of assignments. 6. Interface with and provide assistance to hourly employees on specific projects or assignments. 7. Travel overseas to run out new production equipment. Advise management on acceptability to release equipment for shipment. Maintain healthy relationships with vendors to allow for ongoing sharing of technical information. 8. Interface with Human Resources and/or Safety Coordinator as needed to ensure engineering, technical support, and related projects conform to all federal and state safety regulations. 9. Monitor and analyze plant utility consumption. Identify and develop processes and equipment utilization methodologies that maximize utility usage while reducing/minimizing utility costs. 10. Perform other duties as requested by the General Manager. Comply with all activities related to product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality.
