job summary: A Process Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science in the Hickory, NC area. This job is responsible for leading process improvements, data-driven experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize high-speed optical fiber cable manufacturing and support pilot production phases.

Hickory, North Carolina job type: Contract salary: $40.81 – 57.14 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Support manufacturing process improvements, including variability and defect reductionDrive process control and throughput improvementsContribute to 6-Sigma initiativesAssist in problem-solving, including root cause identification and resolutionApply engineering principles and methods to production challengesUtilize engineering tools/methodologies such as 6-Sigma, TRIZ, KT-PA, MEE to analyze root causesConduct experiments to enhance process understanding and support technology deploymentLead or support development of standard work documentation (SOPs, SOS, Job Aids, Training)Ensure adherence to safe work practices

Requirements:

Experience with high-speed optical fiber cable manufacturing (jacketing, ribbon stranding, buffering) preferredstrong technical leadership, organizational, and planning skillsAbility to manage changing priorities effectivelyCreative and innovative problem-solving skillsProven success in completing manufacturing projectsExcellent analytical and decision-making skills based on dataSelf-starter capable of motivating others and working within teamsProficient in data analysis, interpretation, and visualizationExperienced with software tools such as JMP, Minitab, and Power BIExcellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skillsAbility to collaborate with diverse teams across skills, gender, culture, and raceSkilled in multitaskingExperience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DoE)Demonstrated technical expertise in process improvement #LI-AG1 qualifications: Experience level:
