Position Purpose:
This individual is responsible forthe overall management of the Packaging Engineering department inStratham, NH. This includes providing technical leadership,management, and supervision of department members as appropriatefor all packaging projects. This person assumes overallresponsibility for ensuring all packaging related projects arecompleted with a high standard of excellence and successful outcomerelative to cost, schedule, and performance by applying the mostsuitable packaging technology. This is a hybrid role that requiresthree days per week in our Stratham, NH corporate office.
EssentialJob Functions & Responsibilities:
Team Management Manage theplanning and completion of all Package Engineering projects.
Identify and implement process changes to drive continuousimprovement within the department. Accountable for the short andlong-term initiatives of the Package Engineering department.
Develop and improve departmental procedures following ISOguidelines. Identify and lead the group’s implementation of costreduction opportunities in packaging materials and productivityimprovements. Develop and implement functional packaging solutionsto support the needs of Sales/Marketing, Operations, andProcurement. Provide technical guidance and direction to PackagingEngineers on assigned projects. Project Management Implement andmanage resource planning and project management tools; monitor andevaluate project and department progress and results. Manage 50simultaneous packaging projects (ranging from major throughmoderate scope projects) from concept to implementation. Works andcommunicates collaboratively with customers and internalcross-functional teams to understand user packaging needs, defineproject scope, etc. Lead and participate in cross-functional teamsevaluating and improving critical company processes (e.g., NewProduct Development process, New Co-packer start-up, PackagingRationalization, Sustainability, etc.) Manage plant trials of newpackaging materials and any associated automation equipment. LeadNFR data collection and delivery. Technical Knowledge andCommunication Serve as key packaging contact for Lindt (USA)management as well as the Packaging departments of Ghirardelli,Russell Stover, and other Lindt countries. Act as the leadtechnical advisor for all packaging issues while delegatingfollow-up to key staff members. Act as the lead packaging contactfor vendor related quality issues. Direct the ideation anddevelopment of strategic packaging initiatives including materialand vendor selection and standardization. Identify and leadinnovation opportunities that improve Lindt’s ability to introducecompelling products, decrease costs, improve consumer value, orcreate sustainable competitive advantages. Experience:
Minimum 5-8 years of experience in CPGcompany Minimum 3 years of team leadership required; Greater than 5years of team leadership preferred New item development andcommercialization experience preferred
Skills & Knowledge:
Highlevel of interpersonal skills with ability to manage others withtechnical backgrounds; train, mentor, and support departmentmembers Sound organizational and time management skills with theability to effectively prioritize and manage multipleresponsibilities Strong Project Management skills
Softwareproficiency:
MS Office; competent user of AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD (orequivalent), CAPE (or equivalent), ESKO project managementFunctional knowledge of packaging operations, printing processesand knowledge of packaging converting technology In depth knowledgeof performance testing and evaluation (ASTM and ISTA)
Education:
BSPackaging Engineering required; Master’s degree in related fieldpreferred

Minimal travel; less than 5% Minimalshift/weekend work; less than 5%
