•Background & Purpose of the Job The primary purpose of this role is to support the end to end development of New Channels Packaging for The Magnum Ice Cream Company. Additionally, the role will support in identifying and implementing gross margin improvement projects. The right candidate should bring the necessary skills and basic understanding to develop new products for Club, Convenience, OOH, and Value channels.
Who You Are & What You’ll Do:
This individual will be responsible for scoping and executing the development of new products that support growth in new channels, especially Club. They will manage multiple package development projects and prioritize tasks based on timelines, and they will deliver effectively in a cross-functional team environment by working with Brand, Planning, Product Development, Procurement, Quality, and material suppliers. The position will also interface with Manufacturing and Supply Chain for packaging related projects including: line trials, production start-ups, cost savings, improving line efficiencies related to packaging as well as resolving documentation issues for specifications. The ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with teams composed of individuals with technical and non-technical backgrounds and perspectives is essential. The role will be responsible for overseeing and landing large scale programs on time and in full. May be required to travel 2-3x a year. What You’ll Need to
Succeed:
B.S. Degree in Packaging Science, or engineering equivalent with Internships or 3 to 5 years’ experience in the packaging field. Experience with club channels and identifying savings/value opportunities would be advantageous. Must demonstrate understanding of package development process and engineering principles. Must demonstrate ability to design and develop primary and secondary packaging components that meet consumer, Brand, customer, and manufacturing objectives. Must be able to demonstrate a general understanding of project management to realize the order, importance, and impact of appropriate project activities and maintain Packaging commitments to project scheduling. Must understand consumer, business, and category needs and the relationship to packaging decisions & execution.
