Overview Insmed is seeking a talented and motivatedPackaging Engineer to join our team at our Bridgewater, NJheadquarters. This is a hybrid role that offers a blend of on-siteand remote work opportunities. As a Packaging Engineer at Insmed,you will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing packagingsolutions for our innovative drug products. You will lead packagingdevelopment projects from concept to implementation, ensuring thatour packaging meets all regulatory requirements, protects productintegrity, and enhances user experience. The individual willconduct packaging development projects from initiation throughclinical and commercial manufacture (launch & beyond). Projectswill consist of modifications of packaging for existing products aswell as the development of packaging for new products. Theindividual will be responsible for meeting timelines, findingsolutions to problems, managing expectations, and delivering tothose expectations. The individual will have accountability totheir packaging projects to assure they meet quality and consumerexpectations while maintaining project schedule and budgets. Underlimited manager supervision, the individual will also work closelywith quality, finance, procurement, regulatory, engineering,operations, consultants and outside vendors. Responsibilities KeyResponsibilities Lead packaging development projects utilizingvarious materials related to pharmaceutical packaging (plastics,glass, films, fiberboard, corrugated,) Execute projectsencompassing primary through tertiary packaging developmentincluding labeling and combination product kits Generation/Reviewand approval of test plans and reports for packaging validationCreating and maintaining timelines Completion of qualificationprograms for new package designs and materials Implementation ofcost-saving initiatives related to package designs and materialsInitiate/Review of Change Controls, Deviations, & CAPAs related topackaging components Conduct hands-on evaluation of packaging forconformance to project and regulatory requirements. Oversightresponsibilities for commercial packaging sites and CMO’s Travel tovendor and manufacturing locations for support of packaging projectactivities (up to 20% travel). Education and Experience BS degreein Package Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or EngineeringSciences Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience inpharmaceutical or medical device packaging A preference will betowards candidates that have experience in pharmaceutical packagingareas. Skills and Competencies Primary through tertiary packagingdevelopment for new product launch Coordination and completion ofqualification for new package designs and materials Development ofcomponent specifications Basic Knowledge across different packagingmaterials / converting methods: Corrugated containers Foldingcartons (solid fiberboard) Plastic bottles/Glass vials FlexiblePackaging Labeling Patient Kits Thermoformed Packaging Excellentproject management skills High interpersonal skills clearly showingstrong communication and ability to work with cross functionalteams A self-motivated and proactive personality with ambitions to”learn and deliver” within a fast paced, “employee empowered”atmosphere Experience with cost reduction initiatives and vendormanagement High competency in CAD software, Microsoft applications,and general computer usage.
