Jun 16, 2025 Description The Department of Industrial Engineering (IE) invites applications for a research faculty position at the assistant professor rank. The College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at Clemson University is building strategic, cross-disciplinary faculty clusters to advance research and education in several thrusts. This position is part of the College’s efforts to boost research in Health Innovation & Human Performance. The faculty candidate is expected to bring strong contributions to this area through collaborative research pursuits with faculty across and beyond the College. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in interdisciplinary research in ergonomics, human factors, health sciences, and have an established track record of collaboration with clinical human factors. We are specifically seeking candidates with strong methodological background in areas such as human factors, physical ergonomics, biomechanics, and occupational injury prevention. The expected rank is assistant professor, but applicants with outstanding records of accomplishments will be considered at the rank of associate professor. The Department of Industrial Engineering currently has 23 full-time faculty members with additional growth expected over the next few years. We have a student population of over 550 undergraduate students, 100 M.S. students, and 40 Ph.D. students. Furthermore, our online Master of Engineering (MEng) program has over 80 enrolled students. Qualifications Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. in industrial engineering, human factors, or a related field with specialization in ergonomics at the time of appointment. Competitive candidates will demonstrate the ability to develop an independent, rigorous, externally funded research program, show a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching excellence.
