This role focuses on designing, evaluating, and supporting HVAC mechanical systems through the application of engineering principles, safety standards, and technical collaboration across project phases from design to commissioning.

Oak Ridge, Tennessee job type: Contract salary: $29.00 – 62.69 per hour work hours: 8am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Participate in HVAC system design, development, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes. Apply HVAC safety principles, engineering codes, standards, and procedures in project execution. Prepare engineering documentation including reports, drawings, calculations, and Ventilation and Instrumentation Diagrams (V&IDs). Support project phases including design, design reviews, commissioning, testing, code interpretations, and field walk-downs. Assist in safety and hazards analyses related to mechanical and HVAC systems. Use independent judgment to adapt and apply standard mechanical engineering methods and criteria. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and provide technical guidance to mechanical personnel. Interface with customers, project stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to resolve complex technical and code compliance issues. Assist project and construction management teams in identifying and resolving mechanical requirements and issues during project execution.
Skills:
Understanding of construction practices, roles, and economics. Proficient in industry codes and standards, especially ASHRAE. Familiar with engineering planning and control methods, including computerized tools. strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experienced with HVAC-specific tools like Trane TRACE™ 700 and VariTrane™ Duct Designer. Knowledge of fluid analysis programs such as FATHOM and Arrow.
Education and Experience:
