Job Description
Gem Care is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Process Engineer for a a leading manufacturing facility in Morristown, TN. This is an ideal role for a recent college graduate or an entry-level engineer. The salary range is 60 to 70K depending on experience. This is a direct-hire role with a benefits package. This role is responsible for analyzing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety in the production of automotive components.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for new and existing parts. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (R D, Quality, Production) to develop and launch new products. Conduct time studies, process mapping, and root cause analysis to reduce waste and increase efficiency. Develop and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and flowcharts. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies. Ensure all processes comply with ISO/TS 16949 and other relevant industry standards. Specify and procure tooling, fixtures, and equipment needed for production. Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement. Train production staff on new processes and standard operating procedures. Support cost reduction efforts through process improvements and material usage optimization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. 0-3 years of experience in process engineering, preferably in the automotive or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, injection molding, machining, or assembly. Functional knowledge of CNC programming in close tolerance applications and PLC nomenclature and programming. Knowledge of quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement. Knowledge of maintenance systems and equipment PM. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and ERP systems. Proficient in data analysis and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel). Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP, and SPC. Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
