As an Industrial Engineer, you will be tasked with the analysis and maintenance for processes and standards, special order processing, and estimating labor costs for new products. You will also collect, prepare, and analyze data for standards development and Industrial Engineering projects.

As an Industrial Engineer, you will be tasked with the analysis and maintenance for processes and standards, special order processing, and estimating labor costs for new products. You will also collect, prepare, and analyze data for standards development and Industrial Engineering projects.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct time studies and work measurement for production processes to optimize production efficiency.
- Develop and implement labor standards for production operations to ensure consistent quality and output.
- Analyze and develop labor cost estimates for new product introductions and process improvements.
- Maintain routings and process maps to accurately reflect labor standards and improve process flow.
- Utilize industrial training and expertise to make recommendations regarding work methods, staffing requirements, and capital expenditures for plant and equipment upgrades.
- Continually improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, machine design, and manufacturing processes; as well as conferring with vendors and soliciting observations from plant operators
- Improve manufacturing efficiency through analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
- Assure product and process quality by design testing methods, then testing finished product and process capabilities and establishing standards including CTQ docs to confirm the manufacturing process and results
- Support automated data collection systems and reporting methods to drive Kimball visual management and goal of becoming a digital factory
- Utilize PFMEA, DFMEA and DOEs to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing and engineering processes
- Ensure necessary process documentation is implemented and updated as needed, including but not limited to work instructions, standard work, maintenance repair procedures, preventative maintenance checklists, critical spare parts lists, and other applicable process control documents
- Create & develop CERs for approval to purchase & install equipment to improve safety, quality, and reduce costs
- Support the operational team daily to improve processes and resolve barriers that prevent or delay production
- Enter & maintain data in Tool Data Management (TDM) to create tool sheets, assign storage locations, and allocate/schedule tools for production which includes creating work instructions for TDM usage and the tool room assembly of cutting tools and gauges
- Develop and maintain facility CAD layouts
- Support new product launches regarding process development & 1st article builds
- Execute & manage assigned projects by meeting deliverable scope, schedule, and budget
- Active, hands-on leader in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of operational issues as related to business unit and plant KPI’s
Required Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Able to communicate at various levels within the organization.
- Strong leadership, communications, and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of Management, employees, customers, and outside professionals
- Ability to effectively work in a team. Knowing role on team, based on project/task with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
- Understand plant material flow in a high mix, medium volume manufacturing plant
- Strong statistical analysis background
- Knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing
- Ability to prepare capacity and cost studies
- Statistical methods (SPC, Pre-Control, Capability Indices)
- Problem solving (DMAIC, 8D, RCCM, PDCA)
- Risk analysis (PFMEA, DFMEA)
- CAD (AutoCAD/Creo/Solidworks/Inventor)
- GD&T
- Strong organizational skills
- Efficient in 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream-Mapping
- Demonstrated past of developing and managing KPIs and metrics
Required Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or other Engineering disciplines with 2+ years’ experience in Industrial Engineering
- or•5+ years’ experience in similar field
• Experience with capital project scope development, justification, and management
Preferred:
- Lean Six Sigma
- green or black belt training an asset
- JD Edwards E1 ERP system experience a major plus
- PMP/PMI an asset
- CNC programming/CAM experience (Gibbs CAM, MasterCAM, SolidWorks CAM)
- CNC machining and work holding experience
- Ability to design tooling (manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc), machines, gauges, and automation equipment as resources allow to improve manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of automation and robotic applications
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between
- Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment
- Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25 pounds in weight in all directions
