Job Description

Supplier Quality Engineer Job Description This position has no supervisory responsibilities and requires the ability to effectively communicate with people at a cross-functional level. You must be able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, suppliers, customers, and the public both orally and in written form. Responsibilities Develops and maintains a supplier quality system that is effective in producing, measuring, and maintaining a reliable supply base. Ensures compliance with procedures outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual such as ISO9001 and

IATF16949.

Leads supplier development activities and revises and implements changes as required. Participates in supplier reviews and provides input to the Purchasing Department regarding supplier quality. Performs supplier quality audits according to ISO9001, IATF16949, and VDA6 standards. Ensures the reliability and accuracy of products provided by the supply base, and that nonconforming material is dispositioned in a timely manner. Coordinates with suppliers on all initiatives related to supplier quality performance, tracks performance trends, and performs quality trend analysis from the supplier base, facilitating corrective actions as appropriate. Utilizes lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the supplier base by assisting in the development of robust processes that assure zero defects. Provides support to customers relative to supply-based issues. Essential Skills Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art quality tools and APQP methods such as FMEA, Control Plan, Measurement Equipment including MSA, and PPAP. Ability to read technical specifications and drawings. Effective problem-solving skills and the ability to assess and implement continuous improvement techniques to quality and manufacturing functions. Ability to facilitate and improve cross-functional communication. Proficiency in using standard business applications software and specialized data analysis tools to establish goals and complete projects. Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification and

ISO/IATF

auditor certification. 2-5 years of related audit experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications Spanish language skills. Experience in Plastic Molding and Assembly processes.
