Nesco Resource is in search of Manufacturing/Automation Engineerto work one of our clients based in Stratford, CT. This role has nodirect reports.
JOB SUMMARY
Designs, implements, improves andtroubleshoots automated and semi-automated industrial manufacturingequipment. Including, but not limited to, machine control circuitdesign, PLC programing, actuator and sensor selection,pneumatic/hydraulic system designs and participating in the finalequipment builds. Utilizes knowledge of product design, materialsand parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipmentcapabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards forthe automation of industrial tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design andbuild machinery control systems including pneumatic and electricalcontrols and control circuits for the automation of industrialtasks. Develops new and modifies existing PLC or HMI applications,interfaces or embedded controls. Confers with vendors in order todetermine specifications of products and arrange equipment,material purchases and parts. Identifies opportunities andimplement changes to improve products or reduce costs usingknowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and productionequipment, assembly methods, quality control standards or productdesign, materials and parts. Reads and interprets technicaldrawings. Creates and releases to manufacturing all technicaldrawings associated with new products, product modifications,tooling/fixturing or manufacturing equipment. Communicatesmanufacturing capabilities. Participate in cross-functional projectteams with product design, marketing, sales, materials, operations,quality/business systems, etc. Provides technical expertise andsupport related to manufacturing.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS inManufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, ElectricalEngineering or other relevant engineering degree. 5 years’experience in the design, implementation and automation ofmanufacturing equipment and processes; SolidWorks skills/experiencea plus! Experience with machinery control systems includingpneumatic, hydraulic and electrical controls and tooling.
Experience in PLC logic and programming; must understand howcontrol circuits work and be able to program control systems.
Knowledge of C# programming language a plus. Experience in controlcircuit schematic creation (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic).Knowledge of OSHA requirements for implementation of safeties inmanufacturing equipment Strong problem-solving, analytical thinkingand troubleshooting skills to handle complex issues Knowledge ofthe concepts of Quality Management Practices, Design of Experiments(DOE) and Design for Manufacturing/Assembly (DFM/DFA). Demonstratedknowledge of machine shop practices, automatic assembly, weldingand industry-accepted drawing practices, including geometrictolerances. Knowledge of OSHA requirements for implementation ofsafeties in manufacturing equipment. Strong background andknowledge of manufacturing “best practices” including anunderstanding of location appropriate levels of automation takinginto consideration international location labor rates andskill-sets. Knowledge and vision of the long-term approach toglobal standardization of equipment. Demonstrated knowledge ofmachine shop practices, automatic assembly, welding andindustry-accepted drawing practices, including geometrictolerances. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
