Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer to join our team for a multi-year project following the acquisition of a new surgical company. The successful candidate will be responsible for fully remediating the product through a comprehensive review of the Design History File (DHF) and setting design inputs and outputs for any changes in the product DHF. Responsibilities Conduct a thorough review and remediation of the Design History File (DHF). Set and manage design inputs and outputs for product changes. Participate in product development processes and gap analysis. Ensure adherence to design controls including input/output requirements. Create 3D models and designs using SolidWorks and other CAD software. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product engineering, validation, and design release. Conduct feasibility studies and research & development activities. Process customer complaints, engineering changes, and nonconforming products. Develop project schedules and assess the progress of cross-functional teams. Ensure preproduction quality requirements are met. Communicate effectively with internal personnel, external customers, and vendors. Essential Skills Full working knowledge and moderate level of experience with product development and product lifecycle. Proficiency in 3D modeling, design, and SolidWorks. Experience with DHF, FMEA, and design controls. Ability to methodically investigate and resolve problems using current technology. Skill in developing project schedules and tracking team progress. Competence in processing customer complaints and engineering changes. Good written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills. Working knowledge of drafting standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in mechanical design, medical devices, and product engineering. Familiarity with AutoCAD, project management, electrical validation, and research & development. Professional, concise, tactful, and sensitive communication skills. Work Environment The role is set in a highly regulated manufacturing environment with access to office space, manufacturing floors, and labs. This position offers hands-on experience working directly with the Sustaining Engineering manager and team. There is potential for the candidate to convert to a full-time employee after project completion.
